Bedbugs are stubborn creatures but easily controlled with the right preparation. In order for us to guarantee our service there are a few simple steps that must be completed BEFORE your appointment to help ensure that your bedbug treatment is effective.
Remove all sheets, pillows and blankets from the bed and all cloth items from the floor. Place them directly into a washing machine or bag them up in a plastic bag and tie it off. Wash and dry these items on HIGH HEAT for a minimum of 30 minutes before moving them back into the treated area. In cases of a heavy infestation it will also be necessary to remove all items from closets as well. A handy illustrated guide outlining the steps of a bedbug treatment can be found here.
Cover fishtanks with plastic, pet food bowls and toys etc must be collected and placed into a plastic bag. We don't want to take any chances when it comes to the health of your pets, and we know you don't either.
Don't re-enter the premises until the chemical is completely dry. We recommend waiting a minimum of four hours. During that time, don't visit neighbors, relatives etc. You may inadvertently spread bedbugs to their home.
Clear everything away from the baseboards of any room to be treated and leave a distance of at last 24 inches. We will be treating your baseboards.
Remove all items from underneath the bed. We will be treating that area.
Clear all items off nightstands, dressers, entertainment centers etc. Our technician will need to move these items in order to treat them and we don't want to damage your valuables. You can leave TV's and electronic components in place.
WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Be aware that you may see continued pest activity for up to 30 days from the date of treatment. These chemicals work by leaving a residual and it can take some time for all members of the insect population to encounter that residual.
Vacuum the area thoroughly, particularly under the bed and around the baseboards. This removes the dead insects and makes it easier to gauge the effectiveness of your treatement.
Do continue to sleep in your bed. Your presence is required to draw the pests into the treated area.
